Women's History Month

via historychannel.com

I came across these beautiful photographs of women working in arms and aircraft factories across the United States during WWII.
Women’s History Month in the US started in Sonoma, California, in 1978. In 1980, Jimmy Carter issued the first presidential proclamation declaring the week of March 8 as National Women's History Week. Six years later, the National Women’s History Project successfully petitioned Congress to expand the event to the entire month of March. Hey-o.

Back To The Future.

Irina Werning's photography project recreating scenes captured in old photos is incredibly detailed, endlessly humorous and highly impressive. She has managed to get subjects in the exact same pose, roughly the same articles of clothing, with exactly the same expressions! This is an ongoing project so we hope to see more on Irina's website in the near future.

Build

Perhaps a cousin to the inspiring POP TECH conference we host here in Maine, Build, is a small, yet smart, conference on design and its many facets. Taking place this November in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Build will undoubtably feature some of the best talent in the industry, like the young graphic artist from 2010's conference, Frank Chimero of Portland, Oregon.
