I've met a new favorite film, Good Morning, by the great Yasujiro Ozu. It is called the wildcard of his career, as it plays through the eyes of children rather than old men. (Most of his films revolve around the concept of mono no aware "sympathetic sadness" but this one is bouncy in its unending childhood.)

Watch for the modernist view of 1959 Japanese suburbs, leave with social commentary on small talk and questions about age vs. wisdom.

The Hamilton Wood Type Museum has preserved a dying form of print-making while making it possible for fans or students of classic letterpress to learn about the process and understand how beautiful this art really was/is. Admission is FREE and tours are running all the time. I'm headed to Hamilton.

I think we're alone now

I THINK WE'RE ALONE NOW is one of the best documentaries to come out this year. Harmony Korine only wishes he wrote characters as engaging as Jeff Turner, the 50 year old stalker suffering from Aspergers syndrome, and Kelly McCormick, a hermaphrodite longing for love. The story revolves around mutual love for pop singer Tiffany.

'Taking Place' ongoing at Amsterdam's Stedelijk Museum adresses the spatial and temporal conditions of the museum itself as well as how artists use, occupy and animate museum spaces. In this room, Roman Ondak's Measuring the Universe asks visitors to mark their height on the wall. Both public performance and collective document, thousands of individual units yield design harmony.
