Americana

via the fox is black

Artist Drew Kelly highlights the American landscape in a beautiful, longingly sad capture of "feeling both familiar and foreign." His work integrates natural and man-made elements in a power play that gives the impression that neither can be victorious when juxtaposed against the other.

John's Phone.

Making the list for "Best Ideas in Interface" in December's issue of Fast Company, John's Phone has officially arrived in the US. Marketed as the "world's simplest cell phone," With no camera, no text capability, or even multiple ringtones, John's Phone removes itself from many of the luxuries we enjoy indulging upon in the palm of our hands. What it does have is great design by Dutch company, John Doe Amsterdam. Appearing like the rich European cousin to the pager, John's Phone has easy to use capabilities like answering phone calls, then hanging them up, along with adjusting volume up or down. A small paper address book tucks away inside a pocket on the back while a tiny pen slides in the side of the phone. The only real options available to consumers on John's Phone are in its colors, which are, "snow" (white), "grass" (green), "tree" (brown), "sweet" (pink), "business" (black) and limited edition, "bar" (gold).., making this the perfect cell phone for any curmudgeon or misanthrope.
